While you’re there, admire Jerry Schmidt’s LIGHTED SCULPTURE GARDEN at the east side of the Zaller Building and poke your nose into every store with an OPEN sign in the window.  Shopping the way it used to be, and still should: locally owned businesses with the owners on premises, anxious to know what they can do to enhance your experience-chat ‘em up & soak up some neighborly atmosphere.

 Ignoring your creative side?  Start a winter-friendly hobby for pleasure or profit!  Mon Jan 5, Euclid Art Association meeting, 7 PM at East Shore United Methodist, 23002 Lake Shore.  Use back door entrance; park behind the church or in front of Marc’s.  Refreshments too!  Open to all, $2.00 donation suggested.  Program presented by Frank Ashton, award winning artist and currently Art History teacher at Lakeland Community College, who will teach you how to use pastels.  Their fledgling website, www.euclidart.com, features separate members’ pages with short bios and picture galleries.  For a small fee as a member, you can display your oeuvre d’art there too!

 ~~Kids get cabin fever too.  For your bored and restless teen, Anime Club meets every Thurs at 3 PM beginning Jan 8 in the Lake Rm.  They watch and discuss popular anime films and the role these movies play in Japanese culture. 

 ~~Coming up:  Creative teens can start working now on an original poem to share at the Teen Poet’s Café in the Erie/Babbitt Rms. on Jan 21 at 3 PM, and monthly thereafter.  For true coffeehouse atmosphere, java will be provided.

Take Your Mark, Get Set,Swim (children’s class) Fee: $25.00 w/ID $40.00 Non Resident

Classes held on Wed, ages 5-12 Level 2s and above.  Winter session Jan 7 – Feb 25.   If you and your child are interested in learning about competitive swimming, but not quite ready for the commitment of an established swim team, this program is for you. This 8 week session will cover strokes, starts, turns, terms, and goal setting. The last day will be a “fun meet” where participants can put their skills together!
